I don’t consider myself a dumb woman. I mean I can tie my shoes, mostly. But I had no flippin’ idea that coffee came from berries — berries! Anyways, I’m not a coffee fan. I don’t even like the smell of it, but this — this is delicious. It’s slap the person sitting next to you with glee kinda good!
The taste is hard to pin down, it has an undercurrent of bitterness, not overpowering, but with a naturally sweet layer. To me it tastes like a naturally flavored berry soda — and I also hate soda (just to clear this up, I don’t hate everything. I love puppies and kittens). It’s definitely delicious and a great alternative to all the crud that’s out there.

I guess I’m just not sure what the point of this drink is. Okay it’s 100% natural. good. so is water. It doesn’t taste like coffee, okay it’s the berry not the roasted bean.
Actually this thing tastes like tart lemonade. Has a lot of antioxidants. so does vitamin c. Doesn’t pretend to have reduced calories or sugars, thus not fit for a diabetic.
My conclusion is that I don’t particularly care for it and would not buy it myself. There are too many other alternatives that offer something else I’m looking for.

There is a good mix of berry and coffee flavor. It feels 50/50. I would have preferred 60% coffe and 40% berry flavor. Still its a good treat.

As I have recently discovered and now know well, pretty much all we should drink as a species is water. It’s the only thing we consume in mass quantities that does not have some organic (once living) component to it. Be that as it may, I am not a monk so of course I drink many things other than water. Still, since I have switched to mostly water, coffee with no sugar, and red wines, my weight has decreased by 15 pounds in a mere few months with little effort of any real restrictive diet to speak of. So before I give my take on this particular beverage, please know that unless you are rail thin, exercise a lot, or play professional sports, it’s a good idea to purge on any sweet drinks, no matter how natural they claim to be. After all, a full bowl of sugar is completely natural, has no fat in it, and will still make you balloon up like a whale if you consume too much of it.
The first thing I looked for on this drink was to see if it had any “High Fructose Corn Syrup” in it. I try as hard as I can to keep products out of my house and away from my kids that contain that junk. The more ingredients a product has, most likely, the worse it is for you. O.N.E. Coffee Berry Juice stood up to my test with a mere 6 ingredients in it. No HFCS to speak of. The ingredients label is a rather suspicious sticker that was added on after the package was manufactured. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that everything is as stated on the lable.
So it’s a juice derived from the berry of a coffee bean, berry, or something. Who knew a coffee bean was first surrounded by a coffee berry? Not me? Anyway, who cares? Aparently I am supposed to care because there is a small info section crammed onto the glorified juice box stating all the positive attributes of this product. 100% natural, with strawberry, made in Brazil, Rich in Antioxidants… Anyway, I get the point. It’s supposed to be good stuff.
Did it taste good? Sure. It was good. I chilled it in my refrigerator and brought it up to a cool drinking temperature before shaking it well and then drinking it from a glass. It’s a dark rather opaque liquid, resembling apple cider. It even leans towards the apple cider end of the spectrum as far as beverages go. It has a hint of a coffee smell, or after taste. Not too strong, just enough for it to consider itself a mildly curious beverage.
Will it be the next big thing? Who knows? I would strongly recommend redesigning the package. And remove the straw from the picture, unless you plan to include one for me to drink it from the box with. People are simple folk and we like pretty things to look at. I myself favor modern hip package design. Plastic bottles seem to be doing well. If you are afraid of wasting resources on plastic well a paper/plastic box that looks unattractive is going to lure very few eco minded people. Plastic I am sure will bring you the most sales. If the whole eco thing is a must for this juice, I suggest glass. It is infinitely renewable and has the whole old school retro milkman thing going for you. Design a cool bottle and run with it. Then design a great, hip, contemporary label. Cut out all the info and specs and pair it down so it is simple. Give all the info on a cool website linked to the bottle with a simple URL. Simple. People are busy. We do not have time to type in a huge URL.
Last thing is the coffee statement. When everyone thinks of coffee we think caffeine. I saw no caffeine listed. Still I did not let my son drink it because it was labeled as having come from a coffee berry/bean. Look into that. If people think they will get a jolt and they wont, they will not enjoy the juice because no matter how good it tastes, many drinks alter us with supposed hulk like energies. Coffee is one such beverage. You may also alienate kids like with me where if we think it might make then hyper we will keep them away from it. This should be cleared up.
So to sum up, it tasted good not great. It needs a better package design and it needs the whole coffee/caffeine/energy thing cleared up in a simple manner on the box. Coffee bean + Juice taste – no energy = confusion.
I finished drinking it all, which has got to be a good thing. Still, I do not think this will sweep the nation as the next juice. We are all juiced out in the USA already.

ONE Coffee Berry Juice. Since I am into all things coffee (I roast my own beans and make cold pressed coffee at home), I was looking forward to trying Coffee Berry Juice. I wish that they didn’t put strawberries in it. I want to taste just the coffee berries. Anyway, I like this juice. It is like a sweettart. First it tastes sweet and then has a hint of tartness. I find it quite refreshing when I don’t want a cup of coffee in the afternoon. One serving only has just over 100 calories, but it has 26 grams of carbs, if that is an issue for you. I wonder about the company, though. They have a terrapass (carbon balanced) on their website and supposedly you can recycle tetrapaks….I wonder about the farming methods and how the product is produced. ONE is from Brazil and I’m trying to live local. I will consider this product a special treat, not a daily drink.
